jul 26 2026Kosner Baskonia has secured the signing of A.J. Lawson, according to Chema de Lucas. The Canadian shooting guard, 1.98 meters tall and 26 years old, will join the Vitoria-based club with a Jamaican passport and proven NBA experience.
Lawson arrives as a physical, athletic wing with the ability to run the floor. He is a profile that can play above the rim, provide defensive energy, and contribute scoring from the perimeter—a fit for Baskonia's search for athletic players with room to adapt to the pace of the Liga Endesa and EuroLeague.
Last season, Lawson played in the Toronto Raptors organization. In the 2025/26 NBA season, he appeared in 24 games with the Canadian franchise, averaging 4.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.3 assists in just under 10 minutes per game, shooting 42.2% from three-point range.
Where he had true prominence was in the G League with Raptors 905. There he posted 20.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 25 games, with a 37.2% three-point percentage, confirming his ability to produce when given minutes and offensive volume.
Before arriving in Toronto, Lawson also played for the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, accumulating over one hundred NBA games. Now he faces a new chapter in Europe, where Baskonia hopes to convert his athleticism, energy, and scoring into an important piece for their perimeter.
