GRANADA. La Laguna Tenerife ended its poor run in the Liga Endesa with a 96-109 victory over Coviran Granada at the Palacio de los Deportes. The black-and-gold side, hampered by injuries and a five-game losing streak, recovered form thanks to a solid performance led by a brilliant Tim Abromaitis.

The power forward delivered a complete game with 20 points, 10 rebounds and a rating of 31 to lead the Tenerife side, which maintains seventh place in the standings.

The game started with an extremely high offensive pace and virtually no defense. Patty Mills opened the game completely inspired and scored nine consecutive points in just two and a half minutes to drive the first visiting lead.

La Laguna Tenerife found plenty of opportunities to run and move the ball on offense, though Coviran Granada responded quickly thanks to the offensive leadership of Jonathan Rousselle and William Howard.

The constant exchange of baskets marked a frenetic first quarter that ended tied at 28 after ten minutes of excellent offensive accuracy from both teams.

La Laguna Tenerife began to pull away during the second quarter. Txus Vidorreta's team improved significantly on defense and also found many advantages attacking the alternative defenses set up by Coviran Granada.

Wesley Van Beck took on offensive responsibility and allowed the black-and-gold to open an important lead midway through the second period (32-44).

However, the Andalusian side never disconnected from the game. Amar Alibegovic kept the home team afloat before halftime and allowed Coviran Granada to remain in contention at the break (51-55).

The Nazari side came back even stronger after the locker room. Luka Bozic took control of the game offensively and led a local reaction that allowed Coviran Granada to briefly take the lead after a 10-2 run (63-60).

But La Laguna Tenerife's response was immediate. Tim Abromaitis then appeared to completely change the momentum of the game.

The American led a 1-12 run that returned absolute control to the visitors and allowed the black-and-gold to face the final quarter with an already significant lead (73-84).

In the final ten minutes, La Laguna Tenerife managed the game with much more ease. Dominance on the boards, three-point accuracy and the experience of the Tenerife side made the difference against a Coviran Granada that continued fighting until the end despite being mathematically relegated.

Abromaitis continued to punish on both ends of the floor and led the decisive stretch of a game that La Laguna Tenerife closed without too many scares.

Tim Abromaitis was the star of the black-and-gold victory with 20 points, 10 rebounds and a rating of 31. Patty Mills also delivered a strong offensive start, while Luka Bozic stood out again for Coviran Granada during the local reaction in the third quarter.

With this victory, La Laguna Tenerife breaks a five-game losing streak and remains solidly in playoff positions in the Liga Endesa. For their part, Coviran Granada played their last home game after mathematically confirming their relegation.
