Al Horford to Stay with Warriors After Signing New Contract

Al Horford will continue wearing a Golden State Warriors jersey after reaching an agreement to extend his tenure with the franchise. The veteran center decided to decline his player option, valued at $5.9 million, to sign a new two-year, $14 million contract, according to ESPN.

With this new commitment, the Dominican will face his twentieth season in the NBA, becoming the thirteenth player in league history to reach two decades as a professional.

The extension guarantees the continuity of one of the competition's most respected veterans and an important piece within Steve Kerr's frontcourt rotation. Despite the passage of time, Horford continues to provide experience, tactical intelligence, and solidity on both sides of the floor.

During the 2025-26 season, he appeared in 45 games with Golden State, averaging 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 21.5 minutes per game.

The Warriors thus retain a player of enormous weight in the locker room and with a profile that continues to fit their project, betting on the continuity of a veteran who will face a new challenge in a career that is already part of NBA history.
