Antonio Reeves Leaves NBA, Signs with Partizan

Partizan has found the scorer it was looking for in the American market. The Belgrade club has announced the signing of Antonio Reeves, a 6'5" shooting guard who was cut by the Minnesota Timberwolves just four days ago after signing a preseason contract in late September.

The arrival addresses an obvious need. With a 3-3 record in the EuroLeague, the Serbian team's offense relies too heavily on Carlik Jones, the only player alongside Tonye Jekiri averaging more than ten points per game. Reeves is, above all, a shooter capable of creating his own shot.

Last season split between NBA and G League

Last season he played under a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets. With the main roster he appeared in 10 games and averaged 2.7 points, but in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm, he showed what he's capable of: in seven games he posted 19.6 points, 4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per night, shooting 40.6% from three.

He had more playing time in the NBA before that. Selected 47th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, he was traded that same night to the New Orleans Pelicans, with whom he played 44 games in his rookie season. He averaged 6.9 points with a 39.5% three-point percentage and scored 34 points in a game in November 2024.

A scorer forged at Kentucky

Reeves made his name in college. After three seasons at Illinois State, where he averaged 20.1 points, he transferred to Kentucky. There he was named co-SEC Sixth Man of the Year in his first season and in his final year made the All-SEC First Team and the All-American Third Team.

His signing comes during Belgrade Derby week, though it has not been confirmed whether he will be available for tomorrow's game against Crvena Zvezda.
