A first quarter that set the tone

Besiktas started with a three-pointer from Devon Dotson, who had been marked as their most dangerous player, and a technical foul on Dotson himself for talking too much. From there on, it was all Barcelona. Aleksander Sekulic's team went up 8-14 five minutes in, with a 2+1 from Nuno Parra and a tough basket from Umoja Gibson, and closed the quarter with an eight-point lead (17-25), backed by impressive three-point shooting.

The second quarter followed the same script. Kevin Punter chained together a 2+1 and a three-pointer to extend the lead to ten (27-37), Darío Brizuela nailed a corner three after a step-back, and a steal by Parra led to another three-pointer from Gibson. At halftime, Barcelona's largest lead: 40-52.

No Turkish comeback in the third

Besiktas needed a strong response coming out of halftime and it never came. A three-pointer from Jabari Morgan opened the quarter, but Barcelona answered with a dunk from Olek Balcerowski, a three-pointer from Olivier Nkamhoua, and another from Chandler Umude that pushed the lead to fifteen (56-71), the game's largest margin.

Ante Zizic kept the home team afloat from the paint, where his physical advantage earned him points and fouls, but it wasn't enough to offset what was happening on the perimeter. The third quarter ended 62-77 with Gibson grabbing the offensive rebound on the final possession and making both free throws.

The 7-of-31 stat that explains everything

The stat that sums up the game is in Besiktas's three-point column: seven of thirty-one. Thirty-one attempts from beyond the arc to make seven. With that percentage, there's no way to mount a comeback, and Dusan Alimpijevic's team ended up relying on individual plays from Scottie Wilbekin, who hit a couple of three-pointers in the final minutes when the game was already decided.

In the fourth quarter, Barcelona maintained its lead without any scares. Punter added his first points of the second half to extend the advantage, Nkamhoua recorded a 2+1 from the low post, and Balcerowski accumulated free throws every time he received the ball near the rim. The final 82-95 scoreline was even conservative compared to what unfolded on the court.

Gibson and Punter, the most complete

Gibson finished as Barcelona's most valuable player: 15 points, three assists, and two rebounds for a rating of 20, with constant presence on the offensive glass and at the free-throw line. Punter added 16 points and a rating of 19, confirming his best season start since arriving at the Palau: before this game he was averaging 22 points and a rating of 25 in the competition.

Among the home team, Dotson was the most active—he had ten points at halftime—and Zizic the most efficient in the paint, but Besiktas, newly arrived in the EuroLeague, never found its rhythm.

Barcelona now stands at two wins and one loss, after beating Anadolu Efes at the Palau and falling in Dubai to Xavi Pascual's team. The club continues without Josh Nebo, Tosan Evbuomwan, and Yoan Makoundou.
