Overwhelming! Barcelona put on a dominant display in their visit to Lugo, crushing Río Breogán 78-109. Tornike Shengelia (21 points and 26 rating) led the blaugrana to victory. Barcelona returned to winning ways after defeating Río Breogán (78-109) in an ACB League clash that they controlled from start to finish, with outstanding defensive play that stifled the home team's offense.
Río Breogán struggled to understand the switching defense that Xavi Pascual deployed against them. The accuracy of Keandre Cook, who scored the first eight points for his team, kept the game tied until Barcelona made their first run on the scoreboard with four minutes left in the first quarter (8-17).
Luis Casimiro's players were having trouble finding open shots against Barcelona's intense defense. To make matters worse, Will Clyburn got hot very quickly (12 points and 15 rating in ten minutes).
The Breogán coach called a timeout when the blaugrana lead reached 13 points (10-23). It did little good. Barcelona maintained their intensity and continued to extend their lead to 18 points (20-38) when Casimiro called another timeout to try to spark a reaction from his team.
Río Breogán's offensive production, a team that averages 90 points per game, was minimal in the first three quarters (13, 18, and 11 points). Barcelona, very solid in defensive rotations and playing with ease on offense, buried any comeback hopes at the start of the second half with a stunning 2-19 run that drew some boos from the Pazo Provincial crowd.
