Baskonia begins shaping its roster for the 2026/27 season. Félix Fernández, the Vitoria club's sporting director, reviewed the situation of several players on Wednesday and confirmed the departures of Trent Forrest, Eugene Omoruyi, and Gytis Radzevicius.
The Baskonia executive also made clear that Paolo Galbiati will continue leading the team. Fernández defended the work of the Italian head coach and wanted to put any doubts about his continuity to rest, highlighting his daily energy, the intensity with which he trains, and his ability to connect with players.
Another key name was Markus Howard. After a difficult season, the club maintains confidence in the American shooting guard, who has a valid contract. Fernández admitted that his year has not been good, but recalled the impact he has had on Baskonia and the level he has been able to deliver in previous stages.
Regarding departures, the club confirmed that Trent Forrest, Eugene Omoruyi, and Gytis Radzevicius will not continue. Additionally, Mamadi Diakite could also leave the club despite having a contract, as he has an exit clause this summer.
The most important case to resolve is that of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. The French small forward's contract expires, but Baskonia wants to keep him in the squad. Fernández acknowledged that the club is working on his renewal and stressed that the player also values his time in Vitoria positively.
Luwawu-Cabarrot was one of the team's key references during the past season. His performance, leadership, and importance within the group have not gone unnoticed, making his renewal one of the priority moves for the Baskonia project.
