The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to trade their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, along with Bobby Portis, to the Miami Heat. In return, the Wisconsin franchise will receive Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round Draft picks (including the No. 13 pick this year), a pick swap, and a second-round pick, according to ESPN.
The deal marks the end of an era in Milwaukee. Giannis, a two-time NBA MVP and 2021 champion, is leaving the franchise where he spent his entire career and became one of the most dominant players of his generation.
For Miami, the move represents the arrival of a true superstar to lead a new project with immediate championship aspirations. The Heat are sacrificing much of their young core and a significant amount of Draft assets to acquire one of the best players on the planet.
Milwaukee, meanwhile, is beginning a deep rebuild around Herro, Ware, Jaquez Jr., and Jakucionis, along with the important Draft capital obtained in the deal.
