Corbalán Signs Long-Term Deal with Valencia Basket Through 2029

Argentine shooting guard inks three-year contract with the Spanish club after an impressive debut season in the Liga Endesa, earning Second Team All-League honors.

Valencia Basket has reached an agreement with Argentine international shooting guard Gonzalo Corbalán (1.93m, Resistencia (Chaco), 03/03/2002, 24 years old) to join the club's first-team roster for the next three seasons through June 30, 2029.

In his debut campaign in the Liga Endesa, Corbalán has been one of the competition's best rookies, earning selection to the Second Team All-League for the 2025-26 season. The new Valencia player holds a Spanish passport, allowing him to occupy a European roster spot in the league.

He finished his first Liga Endesa season as the ninth-leading scorer with 15.1 points per game. He led all ACB perimeter players in two-point shooting percentage (57.6%) among those attempting 6+ two-pointers per game. Adding 3.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals (fourth-best in the Liga Endesa), he ranked as the league's twelfth most efficient player with 16.2 rating points per game in just over 26 minutes of average playing time.

A Career on the Rise Linked to Burgos
Grandson, son, and brother of basketball players, Gonzalo Corbalán began his basketball journey at Villa San Martín, a club deeply connected to his family. At age 16, he decided to continue his development in the United States, where he won the New Mexico state championship with Las Cruces High School. After one year of college basketball at Lubbock Christian, Corbalán had already committed to European basketball before his participation in the 2021 U19 World Cup held in Latvia. From the 25-point comeback in the opening game against Spain to the game-winning three-pointer against Turkey to secure a quarterfinal berth, Gonzalo continued to grow throughout a tournament he finished with 12.9 points and 4.6 rebounds for a 13.9 rating.

He arrived in Spain in the 2021-22 season with San Pablo Burgos, making his Liga Endesa debut on November 21, 2021 at the Coliseum against Barcelona. From 2022 onward, he became part of the first team, evolving and progressing season after season in Spain's second division: 10.1 points and 2.4 rebounds for a 10.2 rating in the 2022-23 season and subsequently 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists for 12.9 rating points in the 2023-24 campaign. The long-awaited return to the Liga Endesa finally came in the 2024-25 season along with the Spanish Cup title (with Gonzalo as MVP), showcasing Corbalán's unstoppable progression in his final season in Primera FEB: 13.4 points on 41.2% three-point shooting, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals for a 17.1 rating.

One of the Best Rookies and Second Team All-League
His return to the Liga Endesa proved seamless. His numbers and performances grew from the start, reaching impressive figures such as 29 rating points against UCAM Murcia, 33 in Zaragoza, and 34 rating points on the road at Dreamland Gran Canaria. During the winning streak that ultimately saved the Burgos squad, Corbalán strung together four consecutive games with 21+ points to become one of the heroes of the team's survival.

This earned him selection to the Second Team All-League alongside Marcelinho Huertas, Ricky Rubio, Gio Shermadini, and Edy Tavares. He was the only player in his first ACB season to make either All-League team. Beyond finishing as the ninth-leading scorer (15.1 points) and fourth in steals (1.5), Corbalán improved significantly across all statistical categories in the second half of the season. In fact, during the second half, his stats read 16.8 points with 1.8 three-pointers per game, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for an 18.4 rating, with his field-goal percentage improving by five percentage points from matchday 18 onward.

International with Argentina
Even before debuting in Spanish basketball's elite level, Corbalán had already established himself as an important player for the Argentine national team. He made his senior international debut in February 2024 in a victory over Chile during the qualifying phase for the FIBA AmeriCup 2025, and after being a key piece in the qualification, he was one of Argentina's standout players as they captured the silver medal last summer. Corbalán was the second-most efficient player for the runner-up with a rating of 14.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.3 steals for a 16.0 rating. Gonzalo is currently on the Argentina roster for the third qualifying window for the 2027 World Cup, where Argentina will face Uruguay (Friday, July 3) and Panama (Monday, July 6).
