Detroit Pistons Join Race for DeMar DeRozan

The shooting guard is seeking a new destination after being released by the Sacramento Kings and already has several suitors in the NBA.

The Detroit Pistons want to add more scoring ability to their roster and have identified DeMar DeRozan as a possible target for the upcoming season. According to Marc Stein, the Michigan-based team has shown interest in the player after the Sacramento Kings decided to part ways with him.

At 36 years old, DeRozan finds himself back in free agency as one of the most experienced options on the market. During the past season, he played in 77 games and averaged 18.2 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds with the Sacramento Kings, numbers that reflect he still retains a significant portion of his offensive impact.

Detroit is not the only team monitoring his situation. The Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers have also been linked with the shooting guard, while a possible return to the Toronto Raptors, the franchise where he spent the first nine seasons of his career, has not been ruled out.

The Pistons are now exploring the possibility of signing a proven player who can handle ball-handling responsibilities and bring experience to a young roster. DeRozan, for his part, will have to choose among several destinations before beginning a new chapter in the NBA.
