Dubai Makes Fresh Push for Thomas Walkup

Dubai Basketball continues to make aggressive moves in the transfer market, now targeting Thomas Walkup. According to BeBasket, the club has submitted a new $1 million offer to Olympiacos to acquire the American point guard with Greek citizenship.

The deal is not yet finalized, but the interest appears serious. The same report suggests that Justin Anderson could be included in the agreement, a formula that would help Dubai move closer to the conditions demanded by Olympiacos.

Walkup, moreover, appears open to the move. That detail is important, because the player is under contract with the Greek club and any departure requires several pieces to fall into place: the player's willingness, financial agreement with Olympiacos, and the final structure of the deal.

For Dubai, Walkup would make a lot of sense. He is not a point guard known for big scoring numbers, but rather a player who excels at playmaking, defense, basketball IQ, and reading the game. A profile that would be very useful for a project assembling important names and that also needs balance.

Olympiacos, for its part, would have to evaluate whether it accepts losing one of its most reliable players. Walkup has been for years a very recognizable piece within the Piraeus club, especially for his perimeter defense, his ability to orchestrate the offense, and his impact in big games.
