Leyma Coruña has confirmed on Monday the continuity of Carles Marco as head coach for the upcoming season in Liga Endesa. The Catalan coach will continue leading the orange project after guiding Coruña's ascent to the top tier of Spanish basketball.
Marco, who had a contract in place after signing a two-year deal upon his arrival at the club, has become a key figure in the recent growth of Básquet Coruña. In less than a year, he went from being an unknown name to much of the fanbase to becoming one of the main protagonists of a historic promotion for Coruña sports.
The club thus maintains its commitment to a coach who, alongside the sporting director and his coaching staff, built a competitive team capable of exciting the Coliseum and returning A Coruña to the elite for the second time in its history. The harmony between both parties was maximum and Marco's continuity had been considered on track for days.
The Badalona-born coach will now face his debut as head coach in Liga Endesa, a challenge he had already acknowledged facing with special enthusiasm after the promotion was confirmed. His assistants Román Gómez and Carlos Penedo would also continue with him, along with the rest of the coaching staff that was part of the promotion campaign.
With Carles Marco as the central piece on the bench, Leyma Coruña begins to define the foundations of its new Liga Endesa project.
