Final Stretch Begins with Monbus Obradoiro in New Galician Derby

The final five matchdays of Primera FEB competition arrive with Monbus Obradoiro having multiplied their promotion chances last weekend. The Galician side will resume their campaign this Friday with a new derby against Cloud.Gal Ourense at home, while league leaders Leyma Coruña will enter play Saturday away at Flexicar "Partizan" Fuenlabrada.

From the great Galician derby at Coliseum Coruñés to the one at Pazo dos Deportes in Ourense. From a matchup that has revolutionized the promotion battle, to another that could turn the screw even tighter. And all of this just 7 days apart with one common denominator: a Monbús Obradoiro that recovered much of their direct promotion chances and positions itself once again as the main challenger to leader Leyma Coruña in the fight for first place.

It will be the first match of the weekend and the atmosphere generated in the stands will be one of the main attractions. Because Monbus Obradoiro and Cloud.Gal Ourense will fill the stands at Fontes do Sar for a matchup that could prove crucial for both sides. Especially for the home team, who arrive after defeating Leyma Coruña and can now move closer to a leadership position they hope to reach by matchday 34. For this reason, Diego Epifanio's squad cannot afford to slip up in another regional clash, this time against an Ourense side that arrives in poor form with three consecutive losses and who, in case of defeat, could definitively say goodbye to their playoff promotion hopes.

A duel that will be closely watched by the first-place team, Leyma Coruña, who will take the court 24 hours later with the added pressure of already knowing the Santiago side's result. A matchup of maximum demand in which they will attempt to return to winning ways on the road, fully aware that there is no margin for error left. For this reason, Carles Marco's squad must win against Flexicar Fuenlabrada, who will debut their "Partizan kit" in search of a victory that would virtually secure their place in the promotion playoff race. Because the fight for the final phase will be very present in a good number of matches, starting Friday night when Inveready Gipuzkoa will try to secure home-court advantage against Palmer Basket Mallorca, who are fighting for survival with the significant absence of Phil Scrubb, and where HLA Alicante will look to take another step forward on the road against Grupo Alega Cantabria, who will be without Samu Rodríguez due to injury.

And if the Torrelaveguenses can pull off a surprise against Alicante, Hestia Menorca's playoff percentage chances would grow before hosting Súper Agropal Palencia on Saturday afternoon. Because Natxo Lezkano's squad will return to competition after their rest, ready to close out this final stretch as high as possible. That said, they are aware that second place will go to Movistar Estudiantes, who will open Sunday by hosting Alimerka Oviedo at Movistar Arena—a team whose winning streak was broken last weekend and who arrive in the capital ready to recapture the essence of recent weeks.

In the afternoon session, the fight for survival will take center stage from Melilla and Son Moix with two matches with no room for error for their protagonists. In the Autonomous City, with Melilla Ciudad del Deporte fighting for their third consecutive win and seventh of the season against a Caja Rural Zamora team surging toward the playoffs, and in Palma de Mallorca, with Grupo Caesa Cartagena trying to close in on a direct rival, Fibwi Mallorca Palma, who are absolutely obligated to break a streak of 9 consecutive games without a win.
