JL Bourg will not compete in the EuroLeague next season despite earning the spot on the court after winning the EuroCup 2025-26. The French club announced it will continue competing in the EuroCup after evaluating the economic, organizational, and structural impact that a move to Europe's top competition would entail.
The Bourg-en-Bresse organization explained that over recent weeks it studied all possible options to materialize its presence in the EuroLeague. However, the club believed that taking on that challenge could jeopardize the sustained growth it has developed in recent years, so it chose to prioritize the stability of its sporting and institutional project.
The decision was made in consensus with the EuroLeague organization. As part of the agreement, JL Bourg will continue in the EuroCup with a guaranteed license for the next three seasons, extendable for two additional campaigns. The club interprets this backing as recognition of the work carried out and the progress it has experienced both on and off the court.
The French organization emphasizes that this continuity in the second continental competition will allow it to continue developing its structure without compromising the club's future. Additionally, they believe the new license strengthens mutual confidence between both parties and consolidates Bourg's position within European basketball.
EuroCup champions this season, JL Bourg will now face the 2026-27 season with the objective of continuing to grow at both the sporting and institutional level, maintaining a long-term development strategy that allows it to continue gaining relevance both in France and on the international stage.
