EuroLeague: Maccabi Tel Aviv Dominates Anadolu Efes with Convincing 103-89 Victory

BELGRADE — Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Anadolu Efes 103-89 in Matchday 35 of the EuroLeague, in a game played in the Serbian capital for security reasons. The Israeli team relied on a strong performance by Lonnie Walker, who scored 25 points, to clearly overcome an Anadolu Efes side that has now suffered four consecutive losses in the competition.

The game started with better feelings for Anadolu Efes, who found offensive rhythm in the opening minutes thanks to Jordan Loyd and Brice Dessert. The Turkish team managed to contain their opponent's attack early on and reached the first TV timeout with a 7-12 advantage, extending it shortly after to 9-19 after continuing to attack with Dessert in the paint.

However, Maccabi Tel Aviv reacted before the end of the first quarter. The Israeli team elevated its defensive intensity and began to cut into the deficit, closing the period at 24-25, still in favor of Anadolu Efes.

The second quarter maintained an irregular offensive pace in its opening minutes, but Maccabi Tel Aviv began to tilt the game with a 13-4 run that allowed them to take control of the scoreboard (37-29 at the 15-minute mark). Despite Anadolu Efes's attempt to fight back, driven by Şehmus Hazer, the Turkish team went into halftime trailing 49-44.

After the break, the game began to break open definitively. Lonnie Walker punished from beyond the arc in the third quarter, forcing Anadolu Efes to play catch-up. Maccabi Tel Aviv progressively extended its lead and, with the help of Roman Sorkin, reached an 18-point advantage (76-58).

In the fourth quarter, the Israeli team maintained control of the game without major issues, consolidating its offensive superiority until securing Maccabi Tel Aviv's victory over Anadolu Efes in the EuroLeague 103-89.

In addition to Lonnie Walker's 25 points, Maccabi Tel Aviv received 17 points from Jimmy Clark, 16 from Jaylen Hoard, 13 from Roman Sorkin, and 12 from Tamir Blatt. For Anadolu Efes, the standouts were Jordan Loyd with 17 points, Brice Dessert with 16, Şehmus Hazer with 12, and Ercan Osmani with 10.

This result allows Maccabi Tel Aviv to add its 18th victory in the EuroLeague, while Anadolu Efes, which falls to 10-25, extends its poor run with four consecutive losses in the competition.

In the next EuroLeague matchday, Maccabi Tel Aviv will visit Baskonia, while Anadolu Efes will attempt to break their negative streak when they host Partizan.
