ATHENS. Nikola Milutinov is clear about his only priority before the EuroLeague final against Real Madrid. While head coach Georgios Bartzokas admitted he would have liked to attend the Iron Maiden concert held this Saturday at the OAKA, the Serbian center made it clear that only one idea occupies his mind: winning the continental trophy with Olympiacos.
"I don't want to go to any concert. I just want to win tomorrow's game," the Serbian big man said with a laugh during his media appearance.
Milutinov acknowledged that he has been completely focused on the Final Four for several days and began preparing mentally from the moment Olympiacos clinched their playoff series.
"I've been thinking about this Final Four for several days. I want to have only this on my mind, stay concentrated, play as best as possible and bring the energy and physical toughness that a Final Four requires," explained the Balkan player.
The Olympiacos center also assured that this edition of the tournament has a special meaning even compared to other Final Fours he has played in throughout his career.
"Maybe this Final Four is different from the others. I'm trying to focus only on what's coming and visualize what could happen," he noted.
Milutinov also highlighted the atmosphere experienced at the Telekom Center during the semifinal and hopes for even more support for the decisive matchup against the white team.
"It was incredible. Especially in this arena, the atmosphere is unique. The fans' support made our job easier on the court. I hope that in the final there are even more fans and that we play even better," he said.
The Serbian player was also asked about Real Madrid and the hypothetical possibility of "eliminating" a rival player before the final, though he avoided naming names and highlighted the competitive capacity of the team coached by Sergio Scariolo despite their absences.
"All I can say about Real Madrid is that they are used to dealing with problems and absences. They keep winning games and know exactly how to cover their losses. They are a great team and we have to be prepared for everything," Milutinov concluded.
