BOLOGNA — Partizan secured a prestigious victory with an 82-88 win over Virtus Bologna in the EuroLeague, a result that seriously complicates the Italian team's chances in the Play-In race. The Serbian team earned their tenth win of the season and just their third road victory.
Although Partizan's qualification chances are already severely limited, the team coached by Joan Peñarroya competed solidly throughout the game and managed the decisive moments better to secure the victory at the Virtus Segafredo Arena.
The standout performer of the game was Isaac Bonga, who delivered a complete performance with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. The German small forward dominated on both ends of the floor and finished the game with the best rating of the matchup (34 PIR).
On offense, Partizan's leading scorer was Carlik Jones, who finished with 19 points and proved decisive in the final stretch with several crucial baskets. Dylan Osetkowski contributed 13 points, while Tonye Jekiri added another 10 to complete the Serbian team's offensive effort.
For Virtus Bologna, Carsen Edwards once again led the scoring with 19 points. Matt Morgan added 18, while Mouhamet Diouf was the most valued player for the Italian team after recording 14 points and 6 rebounds for a PIR of 20.
The Italian team also suffered an important setback with the injury of Luca Vildoza, who had to leave the game in the first half. The game also marked the EuroLeague debut of young Matteo Balocchi wearing the Virtus jersey.
With this loss, Virtus Bologna falls to a record of 13-18 and their Play-In hopes are seriously complicated in the final stretch of the regular season. Meanwhile, Partizan adds a deserved road victory that confirms their competitiveness despite having very limited chances of advancing in the competition.
