San Pablo Burgos has an advanced deal for Sekou Doumbouya, according to La Central ACB. The Franco-Guinean small forward would return to Spain two seasons after his stint with MoraBanc Andorra. The move is not yet officially confirmed.
His 2025-26 Numbers
Last season was the best of his recent career. Doumbouya played it with the Koshigaya Alphas in Japan's B.League, averaging 19.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game—numbers that placed him among the league's top scorers. His season high came against the San-en NeoPhoenix with 32 points and 12 rebounds for a 38 rating.
Before Japan, and after leaving Andorra, he played for Sagesse Beirut in the Lebanese league. In his ACB season, 2024-25, he averaged 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists with the Principality club.
It's worth putting the Japanese numbers in context. The B.League has a high pace and lower defensive intensity than Liga Endesa, so nearly twenty points there don't automatically translate here. But they do say something relevant: that he has recovered his feel for the game and playing volume after a few erratic years.
A Resume That Started at the Top
Doumbouya was selected 15th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons at just eighteen years old, after standing out with Poitiers and Limoges. He played 58 games in the NBA between the Pistons and Lakers, averaging 5.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in just over fifteen minutes, and won the G League title with the Delaware Blue Coats in 2023.
Since then his career has been a journey: Roanne, Andorra, Lebanon and Japan in barely three years. At 25 years old and 2.03 meters tall, he remains a player with an athletic profile—capable of playing small forward and power forward—who has never quite found the stability his first-round draft status promised. This summer, he also played for Guinea's national team.
The Detail That Makes the Deal Possible
His Guinean passport is the key. Doumbouya holds dual French and Guinean nationality, and that status means he doesn't take up a non-EU roster spot, a factor that determines much of the market decisions in the ACB. It's the kind of administrative detail that explains why a club opts for one player over another of similar level.
