The Bilbao-born coach, who took over Casademont Zaragoza in the final stretch of the season and secured a historic survival in Lugo, will remain in charge of the team for the 2026-27 season
Gonzalo García de Vitoria (Bilbao, 1971) will continue coaching Casademont Zaragoza during the 2026/27 season. The Bilbao-based coach will continue leading the red-and-white team after taking over the squad in a decisive stretch of the past campaign and achieving the objective of remaining in the Liga Endesa.
Gonzalo arrived at Casademont Zaragoza in August 2025 as assistant coach to Jesús Ramírez, joining the coaching staff following his time leading Real Betis Baloncesto in Primera FEB and after an extensive career on the sidelines. Subsequently, he continued his work alongside Joan Plaza until taking on the role of head coach in the final stretch of last season.
With the team facing a critical moment in the season, García de Vitoria led the group with the objective of achieving survival for everyone, confirmed at the Pazo de Deportes de Lugo, where Casademont Zaragoza secured its continuity for one more year in the top category.
The club recognizes the work of a coach who has identified himself since his arrival with the values and identity of the red-and-white team, trusting that this new stage will continue building a competitive and ambitious Basket Zaragoza.
