The Las Vegas Summer League continues delivering good news for Spanish basketball. Hugo González, Baba Miller, and Aday Mara once again had quality minutes with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, and Oklahoma City Thunder, with performances that strengthen their candidacy to earn a spot within their franchises.
The standout was Baba Miller, who was key in the Clippers' 104-82 victory over the Utah Jazz. The Spanish power forward posted 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists in 26 minutes, with excellent efficiency: 5-for-7 from the field, 2-for-3 from three-point range, and perfect from the free throw line. His ability to produce without monopolizing the ball and his versatility continue to be two of his greatest strengths.
Aday Mara also took a step forward, despite the Oklahoma City Thunder's 104-79 loss to the Golden State Warriors. The Aragonese center completed his best game of the summer with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block, once again showing his facility for generating offense from the post and his enormous potential near the rim.
For his part, Hugo González responded again with the Boston Celtics in their 87-75 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. The Madrid-based guard finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block in 33 minutes, delivering a very complete performance on both ends of the floor.
Beyond the results, the three Spaniards continue making progress. Baba shows maturity and efficiency, Mara displays uncommon resources for a center of his size, and Hugo confirms he can provide energy, defense, and basketball IQ. The Summer League doesn't decide careers, but it does help open doors. And all three are making the most of the showcase.
