FIATC Girona is close to adding outside firepower to its roster with the arrival of Jassel Pérez, a 6'3" Dominican shooting guard born in 2001. The move, reported by Xavi Ballesteros, would bring Fontajau a young, aggressive player with one clear objective in his game: attacking the rim without fear.
Pérez comes off a challenging collective season, but an interesting individual one. He started on loan in Cantabria in the Primera FEB before returning to Coviran Granada, where he eventually earned minutes and responsibility in the ACB.
In the 2025/26 ACB season, he appeared in 23 games with Granada and averaged 11.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals in 21:38 minutes, shooting 34.9% from three-point range and 84.3% from the free throw line. Those are solid numbers for a young perimeter player on a team that endured a grueling season.
Girona thus adds a different profile to its backcourt. Pérez is not a flat player or one who waits in the corner. He attacks, plays tough defense, competes with character and can change the pace through his energy. He has room to improve his shot selection, but his ability to produce points is evident.
Moreover, he arrives mid-competition. He is currently playing with Vaqueros de Bayamón in Puerto Rico, where he maintains a very high scoring level. In the BSN, he appears with 20.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game, shooting 40.2% from three-point range, according to RealGM.
His signing would join those of Isaac Vázquez, Aljaz Kunc, Andrzej Pluta and David N'Gues, as part of a Girona squad that is reshaping its roster with profiles of energy, youth and hunger.
