jul 06 2026ASVEL Villeurbanne continues making ambitious moves in the transfer market and is close to securing the signing of Joel Bolomboy. According to Aris Barkas, the center is finalizing an agreement with the French club to join the team's new project.
Bolomboy comes off a 2025/26 season with Crvena Zvezda, where his EuroLeague participation was more limited than in previous seasons. He averaged 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.3 assists in 15 games, with a notable 59% field goal percentage.
His arrival would fit ASVEL's rebuild, as the club seeks to elevate the physical and competitive level of its roster. Bolomboy would bring size, rebounding, rim protection, and experience in Europe's top competition.
The 32-year-old interior has played for teams including CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos, and Crvena Zvezda, accumulating significant EuroLeague experience. He was also a EuroLeague champion with CSKA in 2019 and won national titles in Russia, Greece, and Serbia.
Pending official confirmation, ASVEL could add a veteran and proven center to accompany its new project, with the French club already bringing in important names to attempt a competitive leap.
