The Congolese power forward will begin his second stint with the blue club, where he previously played in 2022.
Jonathan Kasibabu is a 6'8" power forward, 30 years old, who developed in the youth categories of Canterbury and Real Madrid before beginning his career in the United States. There he competed in the NCAA and the G League, where he was part of the Long Island Nets and the Austin Spurs.
Upon his return to Europe, he played for Nantes in France before joining Río Breogán in the 2021/22 season. During his first stint in Lugo, the center remained until December and played five games in the Liga Endesa, plus the preliminary round match of the Basketball Champions League.
After leaving Chelsea, Kasibabu played for some of the top First Division teams, including Palencia, Burgos, Betis, and Fuenlabrada. With the latter, he averaged 8.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season.
Kasibabu, who holds homegrown player status ("cupo"), stands out as a very physical big man with strong defensive and rebounding capabilities. Additionally, his mobility allows him to adapt to the team's needs at both interior positions.
He will bring energy and intensity to Breogán's interior game.
