Josh Nebo Strengthens Barcelona's Paint

American Josh Nebo, with a Slovenian passport, will bring physicality in the paint to the blaugrana team through 2029

FC Barcelona and American player Josh Nebo, with a Slovenian passport, have agreed to a contract that will bind them until June 30, 2029. The Palau Blaugrana crowd will be able to enjoy for at least three seasons a 2.06-meter center who will bring physicality to the paint to throw down dunks and grab rebounds. He also brings EuroLeague experience, where he averages 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and a 13.7 rating across 136 games accumulated with Zalgiris, Maccabi and Milan, from where he arrives at Barcelona after recently winning the Italian league championship.

Born in Texas on July 19, 1997, he arrives at Barcelona on the verge of turning 29 with the desire to demonstrate his high level of play. "I'm very excited to begin this new chapter. I come here to win. I want to fight to win titles both in the ACB and in the EuroLeague. That's my goal," he said in statements to the Club's media after passing his medical review.

"When I think of this club, the first thing that comes to mind is its winning culture. Every year fighting to reach the Playoffs, competing to play in the Final Four. I believe I can contribute defense, rebounding, ability to finish plays, leadership and character. I hope the fans are spectacular, that they cheer us on with strength, that they are excited. I'm very eager to play in front of them."

Landing in Israel
After training in American college teams, he decided to pack his bags in 2020 to try his luck in the Old Continent. At 23 years old, he debuted in the Israeli league with Hapoel Eilat. In 26 games during the 2020/21 season, he completed 13.6 points per game and the spectacular figure of 10 rebounds per game (the league leader), plus a 21.8 rating.

EuroLeague Debut and Return to Israel
This first experience allowed him to join Lithuanian Zalgiris for the 2021/22 season. In Kaunas he won the Lithuanian Cup and made his EuroLeague debut, averaging 8.7 points and 6.2 rebounds. This successful start allowed him to sign with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Back in Israel, he won two Israeli leagues as the competition's player with the highest two-point shooting percentage (surpassing 70%) and delivered his best EuroLeague performance during the 2023/24 season (11.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game). In fact, he was the competition's player with the most rebounds per game.

Two Seasons in Italy
In the summer of 2024 he changes destination to play in Milan, where he has played a key role in winning the Cup and League of the 2025/26 season. He has also been champion of the 2024 and 2025 Supercup. With Milan, in the last EuroLeague, he has added 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. And he leaves Italy with an overall of 10 points, 7 rebounds and a 14.8 rating, completing 10 points and 8 rebounds in the final game against Venice.

Slovenian Passport Since 2024
Nebo has held a Slovenian passport since June 2024, when he received Slovenian nationality. He was able to debut with the national team and participated in the Olympic Games qualifying tournament. In the three games, he averaged 16.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and a 21.7 rating in 30 minutes of play.
