Ricky Rubio and Laprovittola Lead Joventut Past Barcelona (113-89)

Barcelona arrived in Badalona fatigued from Friday's overtime against Olympiacos and found a Joventut in peak form. The green-and-blacks, led by Ricky Rubio and Nicolás Laprovittola, won 113-89 in a derby they dominated clearly from the second quarter. Shooting 62% from the field, hitting 17 three-pointers and dishing 28 assists, Joventut delivered one of their best offensive performances of the season against an overwhelmed Barcelona.

The third quarter broke open the derby. Laprovittola, shooting 5 of 7 from three with 8 assists, and Rubio, with 19 points and 6 assists, punished a Barcelona defense with no answers. Eli John Ndiaye didn't miss any of his seven attempts (17 points) and Sulejmanovic did the same with his five two-point tries for 16. Joventut posted a 33-23 quarter and entered the final frame up 82-68.

No Barcelona Response

The fourth quarter didn't change the trend. Joventut continued scoring with ease (31-21) and surpassed the 100-point mark before a packed Palau Olímpic crowd. Tyrese Martin, with 21 points and 5 of 8 from three, was the only Barcelona player who maintained his level. Justin Robinson, Friday's hero, finished with 12 points.

The victory leaves Joventut at 2-2. Barcelona, with the same record, has now lost two games in three days and has three losses in the week across EuroLeague and Liga Endesa play.
