The American power forward arrives in Málaga after extensive NBA experience, having played over 300 games.
New signing for the Málaga area. Unicaja Baloncesto has reached an agreement for the incorporation until the end of the season of American power forward Kevin Knox (2.03 meters, 27 years old), pending medical clearance upon arrival in Málaga. The player, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, will face his first experience in European basketball in Málaga after having played over 300 games throughout seven seasons in the NBA.
Knox stands out for his athletic profile, his ability to attack the rim and his threat from beyond the arc, characteristics that allow him to perform in different offensive situations. His mobility and physical attributes provide him with resources to play spread out, take advantage of spaces and contribute on the boards. Additionally, his ability to score both near the basket and from the three-point line makes him a piece that can offer alternatives to the team's offensive game.
Unicaja's new player was developed at the University of Kentucky, where, despite playing only one season (2017-18), he was included in the best freshman and overall All-Conference teams of the Southeastern Conference, being named Freshman of the Year, which led to him being selected ninth overall in the 2018 Draft by the New York Knicks.
In the Big Apple, Knox began his professional career, with which he signed a notable debut season, averaging 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. After nearly four years with the New York franchise, he subsequently played for the Atlanta Hawks (2022), Detroit Pistons (2022-23 and 2023-24), Portland Trail Blazers (2023) and Golden State Warriors (2024-25). In total, he played 320 games in the NBA, averaging 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds with 34% from three-point range.
He has also competed in the NBA G League, a competition in which he participated with teams affiliated with the Blazers, Warriors and Chicago Bulls, and where he maintained notable offensive production as demonstrated last season with the Windy City Bulls, where he posted 21.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists. He began this preseason with the Orlando Magic of the NBA, but now makes the leap to his first experience in Europe with Unicaja, where he will wear number 11.
His incorporation will allow the Málaga side to complete their interior game with a player capable of combining physicality, mobility and outside threat and who will seek to transfer his qualities to the Liga Endesa and the Basketball Champions League.
