ago 07 2026Kevin Love has emerged as a potential option for the Philadelphia 76ers. According to Dave McMenamin, the veteran center is interested in reuniting with LeBron James in Pennsylvania, and his agent Jeff Schwartz has already made contact with the franchise.
The move is not yet finalized as a signing. In fact, Philadelphia would need to create roster space before being able to bring him in. The Sixers are at the salary cap limit and, according to reports, would need to move a piece to make room for Love.
The interest makes sense given the context. Love and LeBron were already champions together with the Cleveland Cavaliers and maintain a known professional relationship. In a Sixers team that has bet on assembling veteran talent around James, Embiid, Maxey, and Jaylen Brown, his name fits more for experience, shooting, and locker room presence than for a major minutes load.
Love comes off playing the 2025-26 season with the Utah Jazz, where he averaged 6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 16.6 minutes, shooting 37.3% from three. At 38 years old, his role is already very specific: spacing the floor, rebounding, and providing veteran savvy from the bench.
For Philadelphia, it wouldn't be a marquee move, but it would be a sensible operation if they find the necessary space. Love wouldn't change the team's ceiling, but he could add shooting, experience, and a natural connection with LeBron to a roster clearly aimed at competing now.
For now, there is interest and initial contact. What remains most important: the Sixers freeing up space and deciding if that final roster spot should go to another trusted veteran.
