BC MoraBanc Andorra and Coretec Oostende have finalized the loan of Kostas Kostadinov through the end of the 2026-2027 season, the Principality club announced. The Bulgarian small forward will play in the BNXT League, the competition featuring Belgian and Dutch clubs, with Belgium's most decorated basketball team.
The official explanation follows the standard script in these situations, and in this case it holds merit: Oostende is clearly committed to developing young players and offers Kostadinov an environment to accumulate minutes, experience, and playing time. Translation: he wasn't getting them in Andorra.
A Future Signing Who Couldn't Find the Present
Kostadinov arrived in the Principality in December 2025, coming from La Laguna Tenerife with a contract through 2028. The club presented him then as a present and future signing, and its sporting director, Francesc Solana, emphasized that he was a player they had been tracking for some time. Eight months later, he's loaned out without having completed a full preseason as a Tricolor player.
The case fits a pattern the player himself has carried since 2022. At 23 years old and 2.03 meters tall, the Bulgarian born in Burgas developed in Real Madrid's academy, where he entered at age 13 and won the Adidas Next Generation before playing for the club's EBA League affiliate. That background gives him the status of a locally trained player, a valuable asset for any ACB roster. Then came Palma, a long-term contract with Tenerife, and two loans—Palencia, where he won the Copa Princesa and achieved promotion averaging 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds, and HLA Alicante. This marks his third loan of his career.
For MoraBanc, the move frees up space in the frontcourt, which this summer added experience with the arrival of Leon Radosevic. For Kostadinov, the season in Belgium is finally an opportunity to break the cycle: at 23 years old, the window for remaining a prospect is beginning to narrow.
