La Laguna Tenerife made it clear from the opening tip that they had no intention of repeating their London performance. They opened with a 7-0 run and were already leading 18-3 with nearly four minutes left in the first quarter. Maxima Roma, a new project featuring several former NBA players, never managed to take the lead. The final 96-71 score gives Jaka Lakovic's team their second victory in three EuroCup matchdays.
Roma found some response through Xavier Moon, whose basket closed out the first quarter at 26-14. In the second quarter, Tenerife stalled on offense and Matteo Cotelli's team cut it to just four points (27-23), forcing Lakovic to call a timeout. The response came from the defensive end: with Happ and Bruno Fitipaldo leading the charge, Tenerife pulled away again and went into halftime up 45-33.
