La Laguna Tenerife Signs Ethan Happ

La Laguna Tenerife has secured the services of Ethan Happ for the next two seasons. The 6'10" American center is already familiar with the Liga Endesa, where he has accumulated a total of 100 games; and his arrival adds even more solidity to the black-and-gold roster.

Ethan Happ (Illinois, 5/7/1996) arrives from Recoletas San Pablo Burgos, where last season he averaged 12.6 points, 6.5 rebounds (third-best average in the entire Liga Endesa) and 2.2 assists in 25 games played, in addition to recording the best steals average in the competition, with 1.9 per game; and the sixth-best rating, with 17.3 efficiency points per game.

The new Tenerife big man had a standout college career at Wisconsin, where he played for the Badgers between 2015 and 2019, averaging 15.4 points and 8.4 rebounds with several notable achievements. Happ was one of the few players able to join the exclusive club of those who have reached at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 400 assists in NCAA Division I.

Additionally, he was awarded the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award as the best college center in the nation in his senior year, the same year he was honored with the Pete Newell Big Man Award by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and included on the Second-Team All-American, just before making the jump to European basketball to begin his stint with Greek Olympiakos, Italian clubs Vanoli Cremona, Fortitudo Bologna and Dinamo Sassari; and German MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, with whom he won the bronze medal in the Basketball Champions League in the 2021/22 season.

From there, Ethan, who is an international player for North Macedonia, had his first experience in the Liga Endesa, coinciding with his signing by Río Breogán in 2022/23 to become that season's leading rebounder in the ACB and the third most valuable player in the league, merits that preceded his stint with Dreamland Gran Canaria in 23/24, where he coincided with current Tenerife head coach Jaka Lakovic; Valencia Basket in 24/25 and San Pablo Burgos in 25/26.

In the hundred games accumulated in the Liga Endesa, the new Canary Islands big man has averaged 12 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals for an average rating of 15.8 efficiency points per game.
