Leandro Bolmaro Extends with Olimpia Milano Through 2029

Olimpia Milano has decided to think long-term amid turbulent times. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian club has finalized Leandro Bolmaro's contract extension with a multi-year deal keeping him in Milan through 2029. Documentation is in its final stages with the signing expected in the coming days.

The renewal comes at the worst possible moment for Giuseppe Poeta's squad in competition: Milano has won just one of eight games, the worst start in the club's EuroLeague history, and faces reigning champion Olympiacos tonight. The club's decision to commit to Bolmaro now sends a message of confidence in one of the players who best embodies the team's identity.

Bolmaro arrived in Milan in 2024 and has become a key piece for his defense. Last season he was named Serie A Defensive Player of the Year, the second Olimpia player to achieve the honor after Kyle Hines, and won the league, cup, and Super Cup with the team. He averaged 9.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 20 minutes.

The 26-year-old Argentine is well-versed in Spanish basketball. He developed at Barcelona, where he won the Liga Endesa and Copa del Rey in 2021, and after stints in the NBA (Timberwolves and Jazz) played several months at Lenovo Tenerife before joining Bayern Munich, with whom he won the German championship in 2024.
