Lucas Sánchez: Spain's Sole Representative at Basketball Without Borders Los Angeles

Lucas Sánchez, player for BAXI Manresa, has been selected to participate in Basketball Without Borders (BWB), becoming Spain's only representative at an event that brings together some of the greatest young talents in international basketball.

The NBA and FIBA have announced the final roster of 40 players from 29 countries, chosen to be part of a program designed as a global showcase for the future. The BWB will bring together young players from Africa, America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania in an evaluation and development environment that combines technical work, competition, and personal development, with the presence of coaches and figures linked to professional basketball.

Lucas Sánchez's name thus joins a platform through which, in previous editions, players who are now NBA references such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Deni Avdija, and Jamal Murray have passed, a precedent that underscores the relevance of the event within the league's talent detection ecosystem.

At the club level, Sánchez's season reflects a turning point in his progression. The point guard recently made his Liga Endesa debut with BAXI Manresa's first team, coached by Diego Ocampo, in the matchup against Baskonia. In those six minutes on the court, the young player scored his first basket in the ACB, a significant step in his development process.

Beyond the first team, Lucas Sánchez is one of the standout names of Spain's 2008 generation. In the club's junior team from the Bages region, he has completed a notable campaign, with 16 games played in the preferred category of the Catalan Basketball Federation, delivering consistent offensive performances. Among them stands out the matchup against L'Hospitalet on January 31st, in which he reached 14 points.

His presence is equally frequent in the U22 League, within the schemes of coach Nacho Juan, where he averages 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds. To this record is added his participation in the EuroLeague NextGen tournament held in Ulm, a competition in which BAXI Manresa achieved two victories against Olimpia Milano and Olympiacos, falling to Mega and ASVEL, an experience of high competitive level in the European development sphere.
