Luka Ščuka Heads to Kids&Us Manresa

Por ·

Kids&Us Manresa has found interior reinforcement from Slovenia. According to Sportklub, Luka Ščuka has already signed his contract with the Catalan club, though Manresa has not yet made an official announcement. The Slovenian outlet suggests he could make his debut this Wednesday in the EuroCup on the road against Lietkabelis.

The arrival comes at the worst sporting moment for Diego Ocampo's team, the only one in the Liga Endesa without a win after six matchdays. In the latest game against Kosner Baskonia, foul trouble for Nicolás Ongenda exposed the team's limited interior rotation. Ščuka, capable of playing both power forward and center, comes to fill that gap.

The American dream that wasn't

Ščuka had other plans for this season. This summer he came very close to making the jump to the NCAA to play at Georgetown, but according to Sportklub, complications arose in confirming his eligibility as a student. The process dragged on and the deal ultimately fell through, leaving the Slovenian without a team to start the season.

It wasn't his first attempt to cross the Atlantic. In 2025 he played in the Summer League with the New York Knicks, an invitation that came after two solid seasons in Germany.

A product of Slovenian youth basketball

Born in Šempeter pri Gorici, Ščuka developed at Nova Gorica and made the jump to Cedevita Olimpija in 2020. In Ljubljana he won two Slovenian league titles and two Slovenian cups, with a loan to Montenegrin side Mornar in 2022-23, though he never played a significant role in the ABA or EuroCup. In 2024 he moved to Löwen Braunschweig, where he found the playing time he lacked. In the Bundesliga he was named player of the week in January 2025 after a game with 17 points and 8 rebounds against Hamburg.

With the Slovenian national team he played in EuroBasket 2025 and the qualifying windows for the 2027 World Cup. At Manresa he will be the latest to join an increasingly large Slovenian contingent in the Liga Endesa, where he will coincide with, among others, Stefan Joksimović, who scored 15 points against Manresa on Sunday with Baskonia.
