Major Blow for Anadolu Efes: Vincent Poirier Out 8-9 Months with Achilles Injury

Anadolu Efes has confirmed the worst-case scenario with Vincent Poirier. The French center suffered an Achilles tendon injury, will require surgery, and is expected to miss 8-9 months.

The injury occurred during the first game of the Turkish league semifinals against Fenerbahce, a match that ended in a narrow 60-59 defeat for Anadolu Efes. Poirier fell to the ground without contact while attempting to reach a loose ball, immediately grabbing his right foot and showing clear signs of pain.

The player was unable to continue and had to leave the court with assistance, an image that already suggested a serious injury. The medical confirmation represents a significant blow for both Anadolu Efes and Poirier himself, who now faces a lengthy recovery process.

The injury comes, moreover, less than a year after the French big man missed EuroBasket due to a serious knee injury that also required surgery.

In the 2025/26 EuroLeague season, Poirier had appeared in 14 games, 13 of them as a starter, averaging 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 11.0 efficiency rating per game.
