Matisse Thybulle Signs with Los Angeles Lakers

Matisse Thybulle has found his next NBA destination. The Australian wing, an unrestricted free agent, has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers for the upcoming season.

According to Shams Charania, Thybulle will sign a one-year deal worth $3.3 million, joining the team as a free agent after concluding his stint with the Portland Trail Blazers, the franchise where he played for the last three and a half seasons.

The player arrives in Los Angeles with a well-defined profile: perimeter defense, intensity, quick hands, and the ability to take on demanding matchups on the wing. This is not a signing designed to carry heavy offensive load, but rather to strengthen a rotation that needed defensive specialists.

Last season he appeared in 30 official games with Portland, averaging 5.8 points and 2 rebounds in 16 minutes per game.

For the Lakers, his arrival represents adding a low-cost piece with experience, capable of providing defensive energy and depth on the wings. A move with minimal financial risk, but one that makes sense within a roster seeking balance around its main stars.
