Moustapha Fall Switches from Olympiacos to Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos continues to monitor the market with the signing of Moustapha Fall. The French center, who spent the last five seasons at Olympiacos, switches sides in Athens and commits to the green club on a 2+1 year contract.

At 34 years old and standing 2.18 meters tall, Fall arrives at the reigning EuroLeague champion following a successful stint in Piraeus. During his time at Olympiacos, he won one EuroLeague title (2026), four Greek league championships (2022, 2023, 2025, and 2026), and three Greek Cups (2022, 2023, and 2024), establishing himself as one of the leading big men in European basketball.

The French international began his professional career at Poitiers 86 before moving through AS Monaco, Antibes Sharks, Élan Chalon, Sakarya BB, Lokomotiv Kuban, Turk Telekom, and ASVEL. His progression solidified him as one of Europe's best defensive centers thanks to his shot-blocking intimidation, rim protection ability, and court awareness.

One of his standout seasons came in 2016-17 with Élan Chalon, where he won the French championship and was named MVP of the FIBA Europe Cup final. He later excelled at Turk Telekom, earning a spot on the All-Second Team of the Basketball Champions League, before making his EuroLeague debut with ASVEL in the 2020-21 season.

In the top continental competition, he averages 7.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1 block per game—statistics that reflect his importance as a defensive specialist and high-post facilitator. In the Greek league, he has posted averages of 7.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 blocks.

Beyond his club career, Fall has been a regular with the French national team. With France, he won the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and was also runner-up at EuroBasket 2022, in addition to competing in the FIBA World Cup 2023.

His arrival represents an important reinforcement for Panathinaikos' new project, as the club continues to reshape its roster for the 2026-27 season following the return of Zeljko Obradovic to the bench.
