ASVEL Signs Nate Sestina, Former Valencia Basket Player, for One Season

ASVEL keeps the pace. The French club announced on Wednesday the signing of Nate Sestina for one season, the third move in just three days following the signings of Patty Mills and Joel Bolomboy.

The 29-year-old power forward fits a very specific profile: mobile big man with court vision and the ability to stretch the floor from three-point range, exactly what Tony Parker demands from the sideline.

A familiar name in the ACB

Sestina arrives with 48 EuroLeague games under his belt, thirteen of them last season split between Olimpia Milano and Valencia Basket. With the Spanish club, he won the Spanish Super Cup before moving to Italy, where he won the league and cup with the Lombard side.

His debut in Europe's top competition came in the 2023-24 season with Fenerbahce, helping them reach the Final Four and winning a domestic double with the club in 2024.

From Bucknell to Villeurbanne

Developed in the NCAA with Bucknell between 2015 and 2019 and with a postgraduate year at Kentucky, he started his professional career in the G League with the Long Island Nets. In 2021 he crossed the Atlantic to play for Israeli side Hapoel Holon and from there built his European career in Turkey, first with Merkezefendi and then Türk Telekom, before the jump to Fenerbahce.

With his arrival, ASVEL's confirmed roster for the 2026-27 season includes Joel Bolomboy, Both Gach, Edwin Jackson, Bodian Massa, Patty Mills, Mbaye Ndiaye, Yves Pons, and Sestina himself.
