BOSTON — The Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets 148-111 in the NBA behind an outstanding offensive performance led by Jaylen Brown and Nikola Vucevic, in a game marked by a 66.7% field goal percentage, the highest of the season for the home team.
Jaylen Brown recorded 28 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in a night of total control, while Nikola Vucevic contributed 28 points and 11 rebounds, adding his third double-double since arriving in Boston. Payton Pritchard added 22 points and the bench contributed 77 points, reflecting the depth and collective efficiency of the Celtics.
The decisive dominance came after halftime. Although Boston shot 62% in the first half (24 of 39) and 60% from three-point range (12 of 20), the halftime score was 66-57 due to eight turnovers that allowed Brooklyn to score 12 points off Celtics mistakes. However, the script changed completely in the third quarter.
The Celtics overwhelmed the Nets with a 43-26 run in that period. Brooklyn managed just seven points in the final 6:23 of the third quarter, while Boston went 15 of 19 from the field, dished out 12 assists and made 5 of 7 attempts from beyond the arc. The precision and ball movement definitively broke open the game.
In the second half, Boston reduced its turnovers to just four, eliminating any chance of a Nets comeback. The lead expanded to 41 points in the fourth quarter, cementing one of the most complete performances by the team so far this season.
In total, the Celtics connected on 22 three-pointers and closed the game with a 66.7% field goal percentage, a season-high for them. For Brooklyn, Michael Porter Jr. was the leading scorer with 18 points in a night when the team extended its losing streak to seven consecutive defeats.
With this result, Boston improves to five wins in its last six games since the All-Star break, while Brooklyn extends its rough patch. The NBA witnessed an offensive efficiency display at TD Garden that defined the game from the third quarter onward and sealed a dominant victory for the Celtics.
