Brooklyn Nets Stage Spectacular 23-Point Comeback to End 10-Game Losing Streak Against Detroit Pistons (107-105)
The Brooklyn Nets pulled off a dramatic comeback in the NBA, defeating the Detroit Pistons 107-105 at Little Caesars Arena to snap a 10-game losing streak after overcoming a 23-point deficit. Michael Porter Jr. led the way with 30 points and 13 rebounds, while Ziaire Williams proved crucial down the stretch with two crucial three-pointers in the final minutes.
Detroit controlled much of the game from the start. The Pistons shot efficiently in the first half, connecting on 51.1% of their field goals (23 of 45) and 46.2% from three-point range (6 of 13), while forcing 12 turnovers from Brooklyn while committing only four themselves. With that dominance, the home team went into halftime with a 62-46 lead, bolstered by Tobias Harris's offensive production, who finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
During that stretch, only Michael Porter Jr., with 13 points before the break, prevented the deficit from growing even larger for the Nets.
The game began to shift in the third quarter. Brooklyn tightened its defense and held Detroit to 22 points on 36.8% shooting, allowing the visiting team to cut the deficit to 84-73 by the end of the period.
The comeback took shape in the fourth quarter. A three-pointer from Day'Ron Sharpe made it 95-87 with 6:22 remaining, and Sharpe appeared again with a putback that brought the game to 103-99 with 2:56 left. Shortly after, an offensive foul by Tobias Harris gave the ball back to Brooklyn, and Ziaire Williams hit a three-pointer that cut the deficit to just one point.
After forcing a shot-clock violation from Detroit, the Nets had a chance to take the lead. Michael Porter Jr. missed the shot, but Danny Wolf grabbed the offensive rebound and found Williams, who punished Detroit from three-point range again to complete the comeback.
After Duncan Robinson missed a three-pointer, Porter Jr. converted two free throws to make it 107-103 with 53 seconds remaining. Robinson answered with two free throws for Detroit, and Brooklyn turned the ball over on a shot-clock violation with 25.1 seconds left.
In the final seconds, Daniss Jenkins launched an airball from mid-range, Sharpe grabbed the rebound but the Nets turned the ball over again with 7.3 seconds to play. Detroit still had one last chance: Duncan Robinson missed the three-pointer to take the lead and Jalen Duren's putback attempt bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded.
Beyond Michael Porter Jr.'s 30 points and 13 rebounds, Ziaire Williams contributed 23 points for Brooklyn. For Detroit, Tobias Harris (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Jalen Duren (17 points, 14 rebounds) stood out on a team that was without Cade Cunningham (quadriceps) and Ausar Thompson (ankle).
The victory allowed the Brooklyn Nets to end a 10-game losing streak, while the Detroit Pistons suffered their third consecutive loss, the first time this has happened this season.
The road victory capped one of the largest comebacks of the day in the NBA, with Brooklyn holding on until the final second to secure a win that stops their poor run of form.
