NBA Finals: Dylan Harper Looks to Future After Finals Loss: "There's So Much to Grow and Learn"

Dylan Harper spoke after the San Antonio Spurs' loss to the New York Knicks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The rookie acknowledged the pain of falling short of the championship, but also focused on everything he learned during his first season, the team's growth, and the chemistry of a squad that went further than many expected.

Q. What emotions did you feel? How much did this mean to you?

DYLAN HARPER: It meant a lot. There's so much to grow on. So much to learn. At the end of the day, this is my first year. You can't keep moving forward if you don't have a positive attitude. Obviously we lost and I wanted to win that, but at the end of the day we have to respond.

Q. You had the ball a lot and made some really important plays. What do you take from your performance in this game? I'm sure some things will stay with you for a while.

DYLAN HARPER: I think there were good things and bad things. I think there were a lot of possessions I'd like to get back and do differently. But at the end of the day, the ball didn't bounce that way. You just have to move forward.

Q. Getting this far in your rookie year—how much can this be a foundation for the future?

DYLAN HARPER: I definitely learned a lot in this playoff run. Actually, a lot of people didn't count on us, and I think we proved them wrong.

Q. What will you remember about this team?

DYLAN HARPER: The chemistry, how everyone fit together. Really the sacrifices we all made to be in the position we were in.
