The New York Knicks are receiving positive news ahead of the Eastern Conference Finals. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the franchise is optimistic about OG Anunoby's recovery and hopes to have the wing available for Game 1 of the next series.
The injury suffered during the series against Philadelphia had generated some concern within the New York organization, especially given the enormous impact Anunoby is having in these playoffs. However, after ruling out a serious injury, the outlook surrounding his recovery has become increasingly positive.
Mike Brown wanted to be cautious and stated that the player continues to be evaluated day-to-day, though he acknowledged that Anunoby is responding well to the recovery process. In fact, Anunoby has already participated partially in recent training sessions and has begun performing individual drills on the court as part of his gradual return.
Game 1 of the Eastern Finals, still pending the opponent between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons, will take place between May 17-19.
Anunoby's possible return would provide a huge boost to a Knicks team going through one of their best stretches of the season. The wing has been one of the standout figures of the postseason, averaging 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game, establishing himself as a crucial piece on both ends of the floor during the Knicks' dominant recent run.
