NCAA: Saliou Niang Leaves Virtus Bologna, Targets UNC or LSU for U.S. College Basketball Move
abr 29 2026Saliou Niang will play in the NCAA next season after deciding to continue his basketball career in American college basketball, according to journalist Alessandro Luigi Maggi.
Virtus Bologna has already been informed of the move and will receive financial compensation—still to be determined—for the player's departure.
Now it remains to decide which university will be his final destination, with the University of North Carolina and Louisiana State University as the main candidates to sign him. Reports suggest astronomical figures, around 5 million dollars for one season.
Niang will look to get closer to the NBA through the American college basketball system, in a move that would also guarantee him a significant NIL contract. His departure confirms the growing trend of young European talents choosing the NCAA route as a platform toward professional basketball and the NBA Draft.
