ASISA Joventut hosts the German side on Tuesday (20:30) knowing that victory will secure their place in the knockout rounds of the competition
Matchday 5 of the BCL arrives and ASISA Joventut has the Top 8 within reach. The green-and-blacks know that if they win their game, they will be in the quarterfinals of the competition. Their opponent on Tuesday (20:30, Olímpico), Fitness First Würzburg Basket, pushed Penya to the limit in the first meeting, but a buzzer-beater from Hunt gave the Badalona side the victory (83-85).
ASISA Joventut leads their group with three wins and one loss, and wants another victory to secure a Top 8 spot and try to finish the Top 16 as group leaders. A very favorable situation for the Club's interests, and as Aleix Duran acknowledges, the team must now capitalize on it: "It's a very significant game, knowing that if we win we mathematically qualify. And there's no better way to do it than at home. We expect to do it with a lot of support from the fans, because it's a game that can define things. They have a team where 6 players see a lot of minutes, and if we have a rotation of 10-12 players, that will be an advantage."
The Germans, in last place with a 1-3 record, need to win to stay alive in the competition. Duran explains that "Würzburg is a very competitive team. When we played there we were winning by quite a bit because we started very well, but they toughened up the game. They have talented Americans but they also defend hard. They come off playing two games over the weekend. We can't expect the trip to be easy for them, so it's true they have that factor. What we should try to do is keep the game physical, and if they have a moment of fatigue, that should be an advantage for us."
