Thomas Walkup's future remains uncertain. Dubai Basketball wants to sign the Olympiacos point guard, but the Greek club has no intention of facilitating his departure. According to Eurohoops, the Piraeus-based club is asking for $3 million just to sit down and negotiate the trade.
Walkup is under contract until 2027, earns around $1.1 million net, and has no exit clause. That leaves Olympiacos with complete control of the operation.
Dubai has already submitted a very attractive proposal to the player: $6 million over two seasons. Additionally, they would be willing to pay $1 million to Olympiacos, although the Greek response has been clear: if they want to talk, the figure must rise to $3 million.
The player, after five years in Greece, is beginning to seriously consider the option of moving to a new chapter. Still, his priority also includes listening to a possible contract extension with Olympiacos, with whom he has already held several meetings.
For now, the ball is in the court of the European champions. Dubai is pushing with money, Walkup is listening, but Olympiacos has the final say.
