The EuroLeague champion continues making moves. Olympiacos is close to finalizing the signing of Mbaye Ndiaye, paying ASVEL a €400,000 buyout clause, according to reports from Chema De Lucas
The move has a clear trigger. The Piraeus club was looking for a backup power forward after Alec Peters decided to leave in search of a more prominent role at Olimpia Milano, and has found the solution in the French market.
A profile opposite to the one being replaced
It's important not to confuse the replacement with continuity. Peters is one of the most reliable shooting forwards on the continent, while Ndiaye builds his game near the basket: last season he shot 70% from two-point range and just 18% from three-point range.
His EuroLeague numbers with ASVEL were 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks in 32 games. Modest scoring numbers, but with a defensive impact that explains the interest.
And there's a tactical nuance that also matters. Despite his 2.04 meters, the Senegalese player can play center, a position where Olympiacos already has three top-tier names: Nikola Milutinov, Tyrique Jones and Donta Hall.
Another blow to ASVEL
For the French club, the move means losing a piece that until just hours ago was listed in their confirmed roster for the 2026-27 season, alongside Patty Mills, Joel Bolomboy and Nate Sestina, among others. Tony Parker will have to return to the market.
