Tony Parker's ASVEL arrived in Athens riding the momentum of their first victory. They left with a 102-79 defeat. Panathinaikos delivered their second dominant performance in two games and remain undefeated.
Game decided in the first quarter
The Greeks imposed their pace from the opening tip and posted a 25-13 run in the opening period, with balanced contributions on both ends of the floor.
By halftime, the lead had ballooned to twenty-two points. From there, Panathinaikos extended their advantage quarter by quarter, with the French side unable to find a way to slow down their offensive production.

The shooting percentages tell the story
Panathinaikos finished the night shooting 24 of 37 from two-point range and 13 of 26 from three-point range. In contrast, ASVEL shot 41.8 percent from the field, with 9 of 30 from beyond the arc.
The numbers
Sylvain Francisco led the way with 19 points. Lefteris Mantzoukas added 16 points and six rebounds, Jerian Grant 13, and Nikos Rogkavopoulos and Mathias Lessort 12 each, the latter grabbing eight rebounds.
For ASVEL, Nate Sestina posted 14 points, David Lighty 11, and Hugo Besson 10.
Notable context
Panathinaikos accomplished all this without four of their key players. Kendrick Nunn, Kostas Sloukas, Nigel Hayes-Davis, and Moustapha Fall missed the game after also sitting out the season opener.
This is the second consecutive blowout for Obradovic's team, who had already defeated Paris Basketball by nineteen in the first matchday. Their next matchup is against Maccabi to close out the double-header week.
For ASVEL, the defeat comes right after their first victory, against Maccabi itself, which had provided hope following a preseason without wins.
