Perfumerías Avenida Defeats Home-Court Advantage for 22 Consecutive Semifinal Appearances

Por ·

Casademont Zaragoza and Valencia Basket secured their semifinal spots with home victories, while Spar Girona dominated at Fontajau to seal their series. But the standout story of the quarterfinals came from Alcantarilla, where Perfumerías Avenida clinched their second consecutive win to overturn home-court advantage and secure their 22nd consecutive semifinal appearance.

Spar Girona and Valencia Basket capitalized on their home-court advantages to advance to the semifinals starting next Thursday, as did Casademont Zaragoza. Perfumerías Avenida, meanwhile, dynamited the home-court factor in Alcantarilla to reach their 22nd consecutive semifinal appearance.

Perfumerías Avenida has not missed a single title playoff semifinal since 2004, and 2026 would be no exception for the Salamanca squad. Coach Ana Montañana's team built on their strong Game 1 performance (+9) with another victory in Alcantarilla to overturn their opponent's home-court advantage. The game quickly turned in their favor early in the second quarter after an initial back-and-forth exchange, powered by excellent defensive work that minimized the offensive output of Bernat Canut's squad and gave them a comfortable halftime lead (+7). Hozono Global Jairis had to battle uphill in the second half, with Laura Gil anchoring the glass on the boards while Bertsch added scoring punch. But it proved insufficient against the outside accuracy of Iyana, Meyers, and Vilaró as Perfumerías Avenida cruised toward the semifinals (55-72).

The veteran Salamanca squad thus confirmed their matchup with Casademont Zaragoza, who had closed their series minutes earlier with another dominant performance against Ingeniería Ambiental CAB Estepona, who fought as hard as they could. After competing in Game 1 in Estepona, César Anéas' squad arrived in Zaragoza knowing the difficulty they would face. Casademont Zaragoza quickly imposed their style, with a devastating 30-12 first-quarter run that essentially decided the series. Gueye was dominant once again against an opponent making an honorable exit from their first and successful campaign in the category (90-49).

On the other side of the bracket, Spar Girona enjoyed the most comfortable night of Sunday thanks to their strong play at Fontajau. The Girona squad quickly dissolved any hopes of Innova-tsn Leganés, who dreamed of advancing but could not contain Mariam Coulibaly, who once again played MVP-caliber basketball to establish control. The game was well in hand by the end of the first quarter and essentially decided by halftime, leaving the second half as an opportunity to continue refining their game toward the semifinals (89-63).

This team will have home-court advantage in a series against Valencia Basket, who had to work hard to contain the always-fighting Durán Maquinaria Ensino. The Lugo squad led by 11 points at the end of the first quarter, and Haidara and Giomi believed in a comeback, but they ran into the ambition of an Awa Fam who was sharp from mid-range and beyond the arc. Valencia Basket regained control through the final buzzer to secure their spot in a series where they will continue defending their title as defending champions.
