Three Spanish Teams and Three Undefeated Sides in EuroCup Matchday 5

EuroCup reaches its fifth matchday with the standings beginning to take shape. Only three teams remain undefeated—Napoli, Aris, and Hapoel Jerusalem—all playing on Wednesday. Spanish representatives face the week in very different situations: La Laguna Tenerife leads their group, Kids&Us Manresa has regained momentum, and San Pablo Burgos needs to respond.

Manresa seeks continuity in Bulgaria

The Manresa team opens the Spanish matchday on Tuesday (18:00) on the road against Balkan Botevgrad, the only team in the group without a win. The Catalans, who continue winless in the Liga Endesa, found the relief they needed in Europe with 108 points against Roma Basketball, with Hugo Benítez on fire. Botevgrad managed just 57 points in their loss to Lietkabelis and relies on young interior player Ulrich Chomche.

Burgos must win against Zelli

San Pablo Burgos arrives at Wednesday's matchup (20:30) with three consecutive losses in Europe and a 1-3 record that leaves them out of playoff contention in Group A for now. Their opponent, Riga Zelli (2-2), sits just above them and comes off a 36-point blowout loss in Jerusalem. The Burgos squad leans on their strong form in the Liga Endesa, where they won convincingly at Manresa over the weekend, and the consistency of DJ Steward, who scored 22 points in Tortona's loss.

La Laguna Tenerife, leaders against Reyer

The final game of the matchday (Wednesday, 21:00) pits the Group B leader (3-1) against Umana Reyer Venezia (2-2) in La Laguna. Jaka Lakovic's team arrives in excellent offensive form: they won in Frankfurt with a dominant third quarter of 38-14 and last Sunday dominated Monbus Obradoiro with 19 three-pointers. Marcelinho Huertas continues orchestrating the offense. Reyer, who lost in Rome last week, depends on the accuracy of Glynn Watson.

Napoli, Aris, and Hapoel chasing 5-0

Napoli (4-0) leads Group C and is the competition's most accurate three-point shooting team. They visit Neptunas Klaipeda (1-3), who have dangerous shooter Yannick Franke. Aris (4-0) hosts Group A's bottom team, Cedevita Olimpija (0-4), though the Slovenians have won all four matchups against the Greeks over the last two seasons. Hapoel Jerusalem (4-0), EuroCup's best defense, faces their toughest road test at Le Mans, who have won two straight.

Rest of the matchday

On Tuesday, Bahçeşehir and PAOK, both 3-1, battle in Istanbul for shared Group D leadership, while Lietkabelis (3-1) hosts Ulm. In Group C, Trento, with three straight losses, faces Budućnost, and Roma Basketball hosts BOSNA. Skyliners Frankfurt, who conceded 104 points to Tenerife, play Cluj.

On Wednesday, in Group B, the competition is wide open: Siauliai-Maxima Roma, London Lions-Türk Telekom, and Slask Wroclaw-Tofaş, who just suffered their first loss in overtime to Naples. Chemnitz seeks their fourth straight win against defending champion Bourg, and Derthona Tortona host Rostock.
