SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA. Monbus Obradoiro secured a solid victory over Alimerka Oviedo (86-68) in a matchup they controlled from start to finish, maintaining a lead throughout. The team coached by Diego Epifanio managed each phase of the game effectively and prevented the Asturian squad from converting moments of reduced local fluidity into a real threat.
The game marked the start of the second half for the Santiago-based squad and featured two roster updates: the return of Andersson and the debut of Travis Munnings, who entered game action for the first time, while Grela was unavailable.
From the opening tip, won by Dos Anjos, Obradoiro established control. The Brazilian center opened the scoring with a hook shot and was instrumental from the start. Oviedo pursued the three-pointer as their scoring avenue, as Epifanio had warned beforehand, but missed their initial attempts. Westermann extended the lead with an individual play and Galán added a layup to make it 6-0. Townes broke the run with a three-pointer, though Obra found continuity through the pick-and-roll between Westermann and Dos Anjos, capped with a dunk by the big man (8-3).
The first quarter unfolded with local dominance, supported by defense and pace control. Kravic delivered a transition play celebrated by Sar, while Speight closed the period with a three-pointer after slipping, leaving the score at 19-11 after ten minutes.
In the second quarter, Munnings remained on the court and Oviedo cut into the deficit from the free throw line. The game became imprecise at times, with turnovers and rushed decisions, though Brito punished from beyond the arc. Obradoiro intensified their defensive effort and, following a fast break finished by Galán, Javi Rodríguez called timeout (24-14). The exchange of plays maintained the local advantage, with Westermann contributing both in the post and from three-point range and Quintela delivering an alley-oop to Galán that energized the crowd.
The game became foul-heavy with frequent trips to the free throw line. Andersson added from the stripe, Barrueta struggled on defense, and Oviedo stayed alive before halftime thanks to Lobaco, who closed the first half at 41-32.
After the break, Dos Anjos reopened the scoring, though Oviedo responded immediately. The Brazilian maintained his interior production until forced to temporarily leave the court following a fall. Kravic sustained play in the paint and the game entered an alternating phase, with post moves and quick transitions. A technical foul on Lobaco for protesting a call allowed Obra to add from the personal line, but a three-pointer by Shelist forced Epifanio to stop the game (48-42).
Barrueta appeared from the perimeter and Obradoiro answered each visiting attempt. Though Oviedo pressed full court and forced turnovers, Galán and Quintela extended the lead again from the free throw line. A hook by Kravic finished tilting the run before the visiting timeout, with 61-47 on the board. The quarter ended 64-54 following late plays by Townes and Nwaokorie.
The final period began with a dunk by Faure and another missed shot by Speight, who couldn't find rhythm on offense. The point guard compensated with defensive work, stealing a ball and converting a 2+1. Dos Anjos extended the advantage with another complete play, and the visiting timeout didn't change the momentum (72-58).
From there, Obradoiro managed the pace through offensive rebounding and ball movement. Oviedo failed to string together plays that would reopen the game and the final stretch served to extend the lead, add to the interior statistics, and allow Munnings to score for the first time. The game closed with the final 86-68.
