Real Madrid Advances in Pursuit of Mikael Jantunen

Real Madrid continues to move in the transfer market with advanced negotiations for Finnish power forward Mikael Jantunen. According to Eurohoops, the club is in advanced talks to sign the power forward, who became a free agent following his departure from Fenerbahce.

The interest comes at a logical moment. Following Trey Lyles' departure, Madrid is looking to strengthen the power forward position and Jantunen fits as an open, intelligent profile with outside shooting threat. A rotation player, but one of those who can provide balance through reading the game, shooting and off-ball work.

Jantunen comes off the 2025/26 season with Fenerbahce, where he averaged 6.4 points and 4 rebounds in 36 EuroLeague games. He didn't quite find a major role in Jasikevicius' team, but remains one of the most interesting stretch bigs on the market.

The player had previously been linked with Valencia Basket, but now Real Madrid appears in a strong position to close his signing. After bringing in Jaime Pradilla and with Luwawu-Cabarrot also close, the white club continues to shape a very different roster for Pedro Martínez's first season.

If it materializes, Jantunen would bring shooting, mobility and versatility to an interior game that needed a piece of that profile.
